mISD Instructional Technology
Mercedes ISD Instructional Technology Specialist's primary purpose is to assist teachers and support in integrating technology within the curriculum through a hands-on approach. I will provide staff development and impart knowledge of software and hardware applications for use within the classroom and support offices to forward the teaching, learning and evaluation process.
Some of the major responsibilities include:
Act as a resource person to the district instructional and support for computer/technology users
Provide training and assistance in instructional technology integration
Work at participating campuses assisting teachers in the integration of information technology tools and assistive technology to support the core curriculum including:
Train instructional staff in best practices of software and hardware
Locate digital resources that supplement teacher lesson plans, e.g. software sites, tutorials
Serve as a mentor for educators integrating technology into the instruction
Coordinate and facilitate functions of district Technology Committee
Remain current regarding emerging educational technology and their potential impact on curriculum integration
Maintain a computerized database of educational software titles
Consult with administrative staff to identify strengths and weaknesses of the technology integration effort
Assist in the development and support of proposals for instructional technology and digital content related projects
Maintain district web page & district social media accounts
