6. When drawing the animal, think about how you can effectively fill the paper.

Could you crop part of the image out?

What does the negative space look like?

5. You CAN sketch patterns out with a pencil first, BUT it may be better to just go in with a thin sharpie right away!

2. Think about value when adding your zentangled patterns.

The more detailed and close together the lines, the darker the pattern will appear and vis versa.

Some tiny areas can be completely colored black or left white. (See image to the left).
