Reader's Workshop
* Teaches skills and strategies that are necessary for all readers
* Gives the students time to read "just right" books to practice strategies
* Provides time for one on one and small group teaching
Writer's Workshop:
* Focuses on the goal of fostering lifelong writers
* Students have a large amount of choice in their topic and style of writing.
* The teacher acts as a mentor author, modeling writing techniques and conferring with students as they move through the writing process.
* Direct writing instruction takes place in the form of a mini-lesson at the beginning of each workshop and is followed by active writing time.
* Each workshop ends with a sharing of student work.
Fundations:
* Wilson Fundations for K-3 is a phonological/phonemic awareness, phonics and spelling program for the general education classroom.
* Fundations lessons focus on carefully sequenced skills that include print knowledge, alphabet awareness, phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, fluency, and spelling.
* Critical thinking, speaking and listening skills are practiced during Storytime activities.
