Minghu Junior High School

Upon hearing the name "Minghu Junior High School," many people might associate it with the literary work "Daming Lake" written by the late Qing Dynasty writer Liu E, right? In fact, Taipei Municipal Minghu Junior High School has no connection with Daming Lake in Jinan, Shandong! Our school is located near Donghu in Neihu District, formerly known as Wufen. It is said that the name originated from the early settler Wang Chuanyuan, who owned a large amount of land here and divided it into five parts, passing them on to future generations.

Our school was founded on July 1st, 1991, by the diligent efforts of the first principal, Chen Shichang, who set the initial scale of the school. Due to the limited land area of 17,229 square meters, the original plan was to establish 48 classes. However, under the continuous efforts of subsequent principals Zhao Funian, Huang Shuzi, Zhu Guifang, Ding Rongjin, Lin Lianzhu, Zhuang Zhiming, Lin Zhengzhou, and the teachers, the school's excellent reputation has gained community recognition, leading to a continuous expansion of the school to its current size of 62 classes. Maintaining full enrollment every year is truly commendable in the education sector facing the challenges of a declining student population.

Adhering to the founding spirit of emphasizing comprehensive education, our school focuses on developing well-rounded individuals who possess diverse values, not only deep understanding of local culture but also an international perspective. The school has established a "Sports Class" to allow students with potential in volleyball, athletics, and karate to continue training in their specialties without neglecting academic studies. The sports class has consistently achieved excellent results in various competitions. This success is a source of pride for both students and teachers.

In terms of clubs, our school is most distinctive for the comprehensive nature of the "Scout Troop" and the musical nature of the "Wind Band" and "String Orchestra." The "Bright Complex Scout Troop" at our school has been in existence for 27 years, having been honored by the Ministry of Education for its outstanding promotion of scout education in the 107-108 academic years. It is the only junior high school in Taipei City to receive this honor in the 109th academic year. In addition, the "Bright Complex Scout Troop" has maintained a 20-year friendship with a scout troop in the Toshima area of Tokyo, Japan, fostering a deep and lasting friendship between Taiwanese and Japanese scouts. These achievements affirm the outstanding performance of our scout troop and the dedicated efforts of the troop leaders in promoting scout education.

The outstanding performances of the school's "Wind Band" and "String Orchestra" are also noteworthy. In addition to regular practice during club sessions and after school, members often sacrifice weekends for group rehearsals. This dedication has led to excellent results in Taipei City music competitions.

Furthermore, the bands frequently support various activities both inside and outside the school, including freshman induction ceremonies, parent-teacher conferences, Christmas flash mobs, elementary school recruitment promotions, and performances at the Taipei Lantern Festival in Dajia Riverside Park. The beautiful musical performances contribute to the students' personal and emotional growth, providing an outlet for the academic pressures accumulated during regular school days.

Looking ahead, in response to the rapid advancements in digital technology and the global trend in education, our school is actively developing "Digital Action Communities" and clubs such as "LEGO and Robotics." We actively participate in Taipei City's information and communication technology competitions, achieving remarkable results. Additionally, the school is planning to transition into a bilingual school, applying for training bilingual teachers as part of the pilot program and establishing channels for international student exchanges with Israel and Japan. All these initiatives aim to combine efforts to create an excellent learning environment for the children of Minghu, aspiring to equip all Minghu students with the ability to "go with excellence" when they step out of the campus.
