THE HISTORY OF THE LOLLIPOP TREE
WRITTEN BY NANCY JEAN STEFFEN
The Lollipop Tree was at the intersection of "2290", Whistlepig and Troll Road and here is its story told by Nancy Jean Steffen our very own Lollipop Coach.
"Well, I remember when it was a huge tree and began to sprout lollipops around its base. And when the tree got old and the huge dead branches began falling down and Steve finally had to cut it down so branches wouldn't fall and squish the skiers. We thought that was the end.... but soon that old tree began sprouting lollipops around and even on the old stump. And now the stump is gone and you might think that will be the end.... but I have a feeling that the old tree will surprise us again. I'm betting that somewhere in the area the roots of that old tree it will find a place to maybe sprout new lollipops on a beautiful sunny, snowy day. I don't know where. Roots can grow for a pretty long way under the ground, especially for such a big old tree.
I'd say that whenever you are out in the area of the old stump, it would be wise to search around on the ground and see if you can find any lollipops beginning to sprout. Whoever might find some first can let the rest of us know. I just have a feeling that the old tree isn't completely finished yet. Keep looking down!!"
