NOTICE REGARDING CALENDAR RELATED INFORMATION

The MDIRSS school district is in the process of transitioning to Google Apps. As a part of this transition we are working to utilize Google Calendar to more effectively organize and improve access to calendar related event information for all members of our school community.

School Calendar, Daily Announcements, the Lunch Menu, and access to our Weekly Chalktalk (newsletter) have been added to this new MDIHS Events Calendar site - providing a single area in our site for much of the school's calendar related information. We will still use the slides at the bottom of our school homepage, as well as our school and student facebook pages, and the school's cable-access channel (T.W. Channel 5), to promote events. We will also continue to develop our use of PowerAnnouncement to provide notices and reminders to parents about important school events.

We have tried to create event categories that will allow people to print or subscribe to types of event information that they are most interested in following. Each of the individual event calendars listed in the column on the left side of this page contains unique event listings. The ALL EVENTS calendar combines event listing from all of these individual event calendars. Any of the calendars can be printed and if you have your own Google account you can subscribe to any of the calendars and have them added to your Google Calendar.

*As schools in our district grow the use of different Google Apps, parents with their own Google account will find more ways that they are able to engage and communicate with their children and school staff.

Daily event listings may also include more detailed event information. Events at the top of each daily listing, in red, will often include more information, which you can access by clicking on the event listing. Again, our hope is that this provides access to more calendar related information directly through the calendar.

We understand that change can be disruptive, but we feel that these changes will lead to significant improvements in our ability to inform, communicate, and engage members of our school community.
