Confidentiality Guidelines:
Private information that is shared with the school counselor is considered confidential, meaning it will not be shared with others, with the following exceptions:
Potential harm to the student or others
Cases of suspected neglect and/or abuse
Legal proceedings
Permission is granted by the student to share information
As school counselors regularly consult and collaborate with staff members regarding student needs, only information that is deemed necessary to meet the student’s goals will be shared with staff.
