Parker Intermediate Center

Meet our Facilitator: Ms. Dunkerson

Hello, my name is Kaibree Dunkerson. I graduated with my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Mathematics from East Central University. I started teaching in 2020 at Wewoka Middle School. Then my family and I relocated to McAlester and I taught Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry at McAlester High School for two years. I was a substitute teacher at Parker Intermediate Center for a couple of months then officially took a position at Parker Intermediate Center this year! And I absolutely LOVE my job. Organized chaos has always been my JAM--took me long enough to realized STEM was the ultimate move!  I have such a passion for STEM and love doing what I do each day. I love to see students having fun while learning, exploring, and problem-solving in the SMARTLab.

What is the SMARTLab?

In the SmartLab, students explore robotics, software engineering, mechanics and structures, circuitry, scientific data and analysis, alternative energy, computer graphics, and digital media arts. Students rotate from project to project or participate in whole-class, teacher-led activities. Students learn to develop project objectives and document their learning in Portfolios, daily journals, and project presentations.

Kodu Game Lab

This student has created a video game using Kodu Game Lab, a coding program, and is using an xBox controller to play the game she created.

LEGO Mindstorm

This student has built a rover using Lego Mindstorm and is programing it to move on the computer.

6th grade Science students drew a shape and found the area of it. Then coded the Sphero Bolt to go around it.

This 5th grade student is building a chainsaw using the simple machines K'Nex kit.

This is a car built from an IQ Key kit. Students built them and raced them.
