Second Grade

Parent Information:

Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome your child into 2nd grade. I love working with children and seeing their development blossom through the year. I know this year is going to be different than before but working together we can achieve great things. Together we can build your child's excitement and love for learning as they explore language arts, math and science.

As a student in my class, I will expect them to always try their best. I believe every child can succeed to their greatest potential if we as adults guide them on their way. As a parent, I hope you will join me in fostering this successful attitude in your child. As a parent, you are the most important factor in determining the outcome of your child's educational experiences. As a teacher, I am in need of your help and support so that we can both provide the best possible educational experiences for your child.

I will do my best to keep you informed about your child's progress throughout the year. If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. I may be reached at school at 618-564-2582. You may also contact me by email at bhicks@massac.org. Remind is also another way you can reach out to me. I will be sending out notifications to join at the first of the year.

General Information and Routines:

If your child is going to be absent, please call the office at 564-2582 by 8:30 a.m. It is very important that your child arrives at school on time. The children begin a morning routine immediately upon entering the classroom. It is very important that your child is not late so that they do not have to rush to catch up on work. All children should be in the gym by 8:00 a.m.

Your child will be participating in P.E. weekly. Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on P.E. scheduled days of Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Dismissal will be at 2:45 each day. Please make sure your child brings a note notifying the school if there has been a change in your child's pickup. Examples of when to send a note: Someone different is picking them up. They are riding the bus to a different home. They are a pick-up instead of a bus rider or vice versa.

Students will utilize their chrome books at school and home. Please make sure these are charged nightly and returned to school each day. The link below explains how to access Google Classroom.
