Alhambra - Building K

AHS Building K

A flagship Bond project for MUSD is Alhambra's new Building K. As student populations increase throughout the District, additional classrooms were identified as a priority for use of Bond funds. Building K features eight classrooms, two breakout areas, student store, and a full working kitchen.

Running concurrently with the Building K project the modernization of Buildings D & H allow increased spaces for technical programs. These expansions provided for considerable movement throughout the campus. Programs such as Special Education and Leadership were relocated to rooms in the new building. Special Education is equipped with an integrated "Life Skills" classroom complete with a full working kitchen, washer and dryer, as well as an 80" smart monitor and Smart Board. The Leadership class now has a storefront at the end of Building K. The double doors near the ticket booth conveniently allow Leadership to sell spirit wear and other AHS items during events held at the lower field.

Throughout Building K classrooms are equipped with 80" LED smart monitors, laptop AV carts on casters, and teaching walls with white boards and storage. An added feature is the Voice Lift which evenly distributes the teacher's voice throughout a classroom. Teachers wear a microphone during instruction and can speak without straining their voice while still reaching students throughout the room. Speakers installed in the ceiling are integrated with the teacher computer and the Voice Lift technology.
