Course Description: *452 CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT - (3 credits; one year) 12; 1 credit science (JALC Dual Credit Class) Prerequisite: Consent of instructor This class is designed for seniors who wish to prepare for a career in nursing or related health services. During the first nine weeks terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and techniques of patient care are stressed. It offers a sequence of planned educational classroom, laboratory, and clinical experiences to prepare a person to perform tasks involved in the personal care of individuals receiving health care. These tasks are performed under the supervision of a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse or physician. The remainder of the school year, the student receives on-the-job training at local hospitals and other health care agencies. To be eligible to participate in clinical observation activities, students are required to pass coursework and/or laboratory simulation in specified areas including confidentiality, infection control, CPR and safety.
