Technology covers a variety of subjects, including a range of design principles such as product design, graphic design and architecture/spatial design, as well as Engineering.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) also has designated time on your timetable during Year 7 and 8.
In Key Stage 3 you will complete a range of different projects each focusing on individual skills and topic areas, challenging you to develop your own unique ideas.
The aim of lessons is to build your skills, confidence and understanding of key concepts used within design and engineering. Learning to design for a purpose, whether that is to solve a given problem; design to meet the needs of a specific user; or develop an idea to remain competitive in a fast moving industry.
As a result developing your problem solving, reasoning and resilience skills as well as your creativity and research/investigating skills; desirable qualities for day-to-day life and all careers sectors.
In Years 7, 8 &9 you also cover Food Preparation and Nutrition within your Technology lessons. As this is a separate subject choice at GCSE we have kept all relevant Food information together. Please visit the Food Technology link for more information.
