CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
Show overall respect.
Maintain a conscientious work ethic.
Be active learners.
Give honest effort.
Follow all school rules.
Exude a positive attitude.
HAVE SOME FUN!
~I want my classroom to be about discovery...the journey to understanding. You won't see me just giving out solutions upon request.
~I want my students to be inquisitive! I want them to ask questions...and lots of them!
~Attendance in my classes is of utmost importance. Miss a day...miss a lot.
~My philosophy on daily work: When we check assignments, I encourage questioning and self-reflection. I want them to try EVERY question, no matter how difficult.
~I want my students to know that I am more than willing to sit down and work one-on-one with them whenever possible. This includes before school, after school, during my prep time, or even during another class period if there is down time. I don't care if I have a speech practice going on...I still want them to come in! I can multi-task with the best of them. The bottom line is this: If a student wants some extra help, I am there for them!!
~Students are encouraged to stay on top of their grades. If they think there is a problem, they should see me right away. Don't hesitate. I won't be upset. If I made a mistake, I want to know about it.
~I do expect students to work hard for me. At times, their class can be extremely difficult. If things get too stressful, it is my hope that the student will communicate with me and we can get something worked out. COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY!
~Grading percentages: Grades for Algebra I, AP Calculus, and Pre-Calculus all weigh tests/quizzes at 100%. Homework will be assigned and expected to be completed before an assessment can be taken. All semester grades will be figured by averaging the two quarter percentages which make up the semester. For example, a student's first semester grade will be figured by adding their quarter one percentage to their quarter two percentage and dividing by two.
