Rachel's Challenge CLUB

Each year I have 20-24 students from both 5th and 6th grade that meet as a CLUB in my office space during their Friday lunch. These students were selected by a teacher in our building that feels they answered the required questions with compassion and overall interest in being in the club. The purpose of the Rachel's Challenge club is for a group of students to help Mrs. Weninger fulfill Rachel Scott's goal to start a chain reaction of KINDNESS at Maple Lake elementary.

Each member signed a contract with the following requirements:

*I agree to be committed to the Rachel's Challenge CLUB.

*I agree to the 4 challenges presented in the Rachel story...

Include others

Do nice things

Use kind words

Start a chain reaction with my friends and family

*I agree to participate with others in the Rachel's Challenge club whenever possible

*I agree to accept and follow the directions of the Rachel's Challenge CLUB leader, Mrs. Weninger

* I agree to follow the expectations of MLE, abide by the handbook and carry out IRISH PRIDE

This club is a way for 20-24 of our MLE students to brainstorm ideas of how to spread KINDNESS. We invite students to wear ORANGE for anti-bullying month, participate in the Homecoming parade and identify an organization or program that is in need of our help. In the past we have set up fun ways to collect money that is shared with the select organization. Each month we are picking one thing to do that encourages kindness and positivity. You will hear your students talk about the classroom CHAINS that are put together each time a student shows kindness. We will link all the chains together in the spring and show it off...
