SELECTION OF NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS

The selection of members to the MMHS chapter of the National Honor Society is conducted by a five faculty member panel (Faculty Council) appointed by the principal.

The candidates for election to this chapter must be members of the junior or senior class and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or 9.0 (not rounded up).

Final admission will be based on the student’s demonstration of service, leadership and character.

Candidates for election will receive a packet of instructions and forms to be completed by a specific date. 7 recommendation forms, proof of 40 hours (20 of which must be in-school) service on business letterhead, and a list of in-school and outside activities.

The names of candidates who meet all the requirements will be reviewed by the entire faculty for additional input to help the faculty council determine eligibility.

Candidates become members when they are inducted by the principal at a special ceremony.
