Highland Installs a New Communication Board!

Communication boards are tools used as an alternative way of communicating for people who may have difficulties with speech or language, or for some individuals with autism. These boards allow people to communicate with nonverbal exchanges by using a symbol based system. The Highland Communication Board was modeled after the communication system currently being used at Highland. Ms. Horne, Highland's speech pathologist, worked with a contractor to create the design of the board. The idea for the communication board was first brought to the school's attention by Rebecca Dobles, Highland's social worker. The board is located in the school's yard. We hope it will enhance our community's playground experience!

Ms. Tellier is Honored!

Ms. Tellier was chosen to be recognized as a recipient of the 2021 Christa McAuliffe Coin!

Congratulations on being honored by the See Science Center, Ms Tellier! We are so proud of you!

Mr. Coulon is Honored!

Mr. Coulon was chosen to be recognized as a teacher who has made an impact by the See Science Center organization. With this recognition, Mr. Coulon will receive the 2021 Christa McAuliffe Coin during a celebration at the SEE Science Center on May 3rd for National Teacher Appreciation Day!

The following was said about Mr. Coulon, "Our team has had the opportunity to worked with David for several years. We have always been impressed with his communication to not only teach, but to build each student's confidence and instill in them an excitement for learning. His passion for his work is contagious and creates enthusiasm for lifelong learning."

Congratulations, Mr. Coulon!! We at Highland are so proud of you!

District Educators Honored

In the fall, the SEE Science Center Board of Directors generously donated 13 of the new Christa McAuliffe commemorative coins to Manchester School District. The coins honor the legacy and spirit of McAuliffe, the Concord High teacher who was chosen by NASA to join the crew of the Challenger shuttle in 1986. She tragically died when the shuttle exploded during launch.

The SEE board requested that these coins be awarded to deserving educators in our district. These above educators were nominated.

Congratulations to Mrs. Dumas for winning the Christa McAuliffe Coin!! She is a dedicated teacher who works tirelessly in the service of her students! We are so proud!!
