This page exists as a stepping stone to my course pages. Still, as long as I'm already taking up space on your monitor, I'll include a bit of extra information for your browsing bemusement.

I'm an associate professor of physics at the University of Maine at Farmington. I've been here since 1995; before that I spent seven years teaching at colleges in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Louisiana.

My training is in astronomy -- pointing telescopes at spiral galaxies, to be precise. After arriving at UMF I switched over to radar observations of asteroids, in collaboration with researchers at the Arecibo Observatory and at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Another current project is working with UMF's twelve-inch telescope, so that students can point it at galaxies, asteroids, and whatever else comes out at night.
