Undergraduate Intern - Biological Mass Spectrometry

Job Description:

The Biological Mass Spectrometry and Biomarker Research Group provides advanced analytical and development support to all departments throughout the company with emphasis on biomolecules such as proteins, carbohydrates and lipids. The group evaluates and develops assays for biomarker validation and the screening, diagnosis and monitoring of Lysosomal Storage Disorders and other diseases.

Student will be required to use any chemicals, solvents, paints or glue that is flammable or toxic such as Chloroform, Acetonitrile, Trifluoroacetic acid.

Student will be exposed to blood borne pathogen, work with human or primate tissues

We are seeking an undergraduate intern student to use LC/MS technology to support the development of a new protein quantitation platform for biologics R&D and the identification and quantitation of lipid biomarkers for LSD clinical research. The student will gain experience in the areas of protein and peptide purification, enzymatic digestion, high-throughput sample handling, liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, data analysis and interpretation, and scientific notebook maintenance.

Job Qualifications:

A background in chemistry, biochemistry or biology with understanding of Microsoft Office software would be preferred.
