2017 IEM Intern Information and Application

Incredible Edible Milbridge (IEM), a project of the Women’s Health Resource Library, through the generous support of local businesses is pleased to announce up to four internship opportunities with Incredible Edible Milbridge.

Summer Interns will work with and train under Michael Hayden, the Incredible Edible Milbridge Farmer, learning about soil health, how to start seeds, transplant seedlings, plant a garden, water and weed, and harvest. You will also help distribute food to the community and assist with IEM programming so you must be able to interact positively with the public. You will be involved with all aspects of vegetable farming. If you are in good physical condition, like to work hard outside and see the rewards of your efforts, and would enjoy being a friendly presence in the community for Incredible Edible, please fill out the accompanying application and return by April 15, 2017.

Incredible Edible Milbridge is a series of public vegetable gardens and education initiatives designed to create a community that is stronger, healthier and more food independent. The produce at the 24 vegetable gardens is free for all. These gardens include 23 raised beds and the 14,000 sq. ft. free pick-your-own Market Garden at the Red Barn Motel.

The goal of Incredible Edible Milbridge is to build community spirit and change the way we think about food, how we shop and what we do with our outdoor space through gardening. Part of our mission is to spread the word about locally grown vegetables and healthy eating and to build connections between people around something we all love—food. As you learn, you can help spread the word alongside Michael!
