- provide substantial help to purchase library materials in this poor fiscal climate for public education,
- sponsor receptions for Library events which bring together students, faculty, and CCSF staff in an informal setting for cultural and intellectual experiences,
- sponsor the CCSF Library Research Award (discontinued), and to
- support the award-winning Library Exhibition Program.

We continue to fund many necessary library and learning resources items throughout the CCSF libraries. We have supported many Library purchases too numerous to list! These include:

- The FOL purchased reference books, audio books, DVDs, and various supplies (printers, printer cartridges, etc.) for our CCSF Library.

- Thanks to the James Cagnacci Memorial Fund, the FOL purchased close to one hundred titles of world literature in English translation. From Honoré de Balzac to Emile Zola, Eileen Chang to Nguyen Huy Thiep andXhwang Sok-Yong, from Jorge Luis Borges to Jose Donoso and Manuel Puig. - The Friends of the Library support the new CCSF Library Research Award . One to two prizes of $200 each will be awarded to CCSF students to recognize"excellence in student research and information competency skills and the process of inquiry in using the library, its resources, and collections." (Donations may be made to FOL asking that all funds be applied to the CCSF Library Research Award. )
