Summer 2019 & Fall 2019 MATH 95 Online

Are you ready for an online class? How well online courses work for you depends on many factors including your computer skills, time management skills, motivation, study skills, and learning style. Online learning isn’t for everyone. Take this Online Learning Quiz to measure your potential for success in an online class.

How does the format of this class work? Students will learn the course material by watching instructional videos, forum posts, reading the textbook and completing online assignments. We will have online participation that is mandatory to remain enrolled in the class in the form of online forums where you can ask and answer questions from classmates and myself. In addition to forum posts, we will have weekly assignments online as well as quizzes and two exams. The final exam will be taken in person. To successfully complete our course, you should expect to spend at least 10 hours per week on the course materials. Please don’t underestimate the time commitment.

Adding the Class

I will be adding students during the first week of the semester. Students will be added based upon availability of space in the class. Adding priority is given to students on the online waiting list.

Drop Policy

Student who do not complete the initial Introduction Post on Canvas by the end of the first week will be dropped. Beyond the first week of the semester students will be dropped if they do not complete an exam by the specified due date.

We'll be using the learning management system Canvas for our class communication. This is where many of our important class resources (forums for postings, announcements of homework assignments and quizzes, etc.) will be located. Canvas is our way of communicating to each other and keeping track of what's happening in the class. Need help with Canvas? You can contact the Canvas Support Hotline (844) 592-2198 available 24/7. Your Canvas username is your CCSF ID and password is your Ram ID password.

Assignments and Quizzes

As mentioned above, assignments and quizzes are announced in Canvas. However, the assignments and quizzes will be completed through the online program MyMathLab. Instructions on acquiring access to MyMathLab will be sent in an e-mail to all registered students (your CCSF e-mail address), and will also be available on the syllabus (in Canvas).
