Summer Music Challenge

Post date: Jun 10, 2020 3:41:41 AM

This will be a bit different than our previous challenges, so here we go. The rules are simple. Each week during the summer, I will post a song, an artist, and an album of the week. (Sometimes they will all be connected, and sometimes they will be unrelated).

Your job, when I post the 3 pieces, is to research and respond to me with a FUN FACT about either the song, the artist, or the album! Each person will only be eligible to win for 1 of the 3 pieces, so whichever you respond about first will be the eligible response. However, for each (song, artist, album), there will be only one winner each week, whoever gets an accurate FUN FACT to me first. So, choose wisely, if you respond about the artist, but someone else has done that already, you will be ineligible for top score that week!

Scoring rules: 5 points for first accurate response on a topic. 1 point for any correct response after the first on a topic (can be earned up to 3 times per week). 1 point for first response (but inaccurate). 0.5 point for inaccurate response after a correct response.

The goal is simple, research and respond as soon as you can! You can send the Google Form for Music Response, send via Remind, or e-mail it, or LoopMail (although I believe School Loop will be ending our contract June 30th, so the first three options are best). You can submit the Google Form more than once, so it will be re-used each week, or for multiple submissions each week (for fun).

I will not send the information at any specific set time during the week, the list of artist, album, and song could come any time That's part of what makes it interesting! After sufficient time has passed, then I will announce the winners for each week. This is to discourage people from telling their friends that prizes are still available.

Now for the prizes!! I am beginning the process of clearing out some of my old CDs, and so you have the option to redeem earned prize points for CANDY, or a CD. I know CDs are super old-fashioned, and you may not even own a CD player, but your parents might, lol. I will keep the tally of who has earned points, and at the end of summer, you can collect them (I can either deliver to your house, or potentially when we return to school). It should be fun!

*Bonus points available: each week during summer, listen to a few songs on the ALBUM of the week. Send in your favorite (3+ lines) set of lyrics, with short explanation for why those mean something to you. This bonus is available for each weekly ALBUM only, 2 points each time. Have fun exploring!
