Syllabus
Classroom Preparation:
Students are to bring the following to class on a daily basis:
3 Ring Binder with 2 sections labeled notes, and homework
Loose Leaf Paper
2 Pencils (must be sharpened at the beginning of class
1 Marker for correcting
Class Expectations:
Come to class with a positive attitude, pay attention and participate in class
Be on time and prepared (Notebook, homework, and pencil)
When you arrive please begin working on the ‘daily maintenance’ task on the board
Consider any questions you have, raise your hand and wait your turn to be called on
Use pencils only for math work
Assignments:
You must have the proper heading:
Name, date, page number and problems
All problems (except word problems) must be written down to receive full credit
That means: isolated answers will receive a ZERO for that homework assignment.
If you got an odd problem wrong write the book’s answer next to the problem. You must go back and redo the problem. If you are still getting the incorrect answer, then ask me the following day in class.
If a review is handed out in class for homework, students must check their answers with my answer key
All graphing (linear, exponential, and quadratic functions) must be done on graph paper.
You will receive a zero if it is not on graph paper.

Homework grades are given by the following:
Spot check – I am looking for completion of your homework, along with problems written, answers from the odd problems from the book, graphing on graph paper, and proper heading. If it is incomplete, you will receive a zero.
Collect – I may just grade one or two problems from your homework.
Homework Quizzes – you may have a homework quiz before each chapter test. So make sure your homework is organized by date
Makeup Work:
All students are responsible for finding out about making up work and notes missed due to absences from class.
Extra Help:
Students are expected to complete all review/homework, and check their answers prior to extra help.
Students are required to notify me in class or through email to schedule a time before school for extra help.
Students must come in with questions concerning their assignment or concepts covered in the lessons.
Grades:
A point value will be assigned for each assignment however grades will be separated as follows:
50% of each student’s grade will be based on Test Grades
30% of each student’s grade will be based on Quiz Grades
20% of each students grade will be based on Classwork and Homework
Performance on any assignment can be checked on Genesis as soon as they are graded
