Two Week Look Ahead

Two Week Look Ahead - April 9, 2018

Good afternoon. Hopefully, we are getting ready to put winter behind us. Temperatures at the end of the week are starting to trend in the positive direction. I wanted to send out a short two week look ahead before we go on April break. Here are a few announcements and a schedule of athletic events:

  • Third term report cards will be finalized on Friday, April 13. Parents and students will be able to view grades electronically. If you would like a hard copy of the report card, please contact the main office or guidance and we will print up a report card.
  • There is a PTO meeting tonight at 7:00 pm in the LMS Project Room. Chief Marino, Mrs. Finch (School Nurse Department Head), and school administrators will be present to talk about school safety and security at the various buildings.

The Unified Track Team at LMHS is looking for more students in grades 7-12 to join us!

The Unified Track Team would like to have 20 more members by next week! Unified Track is both an inclusive sports program that brings together, as teammates, individuals with intellectual disabilities, called unified student athletes, and those without intellectual disabilities, called unified sports partners. The athletes on the Unified Track team train, compete, and socialize as friends. The primary goal of the team is have fun and create friendships as we train and compete according to our skill level.

The Unified Track team is a varsity sport at LMHS. We have four dual meets followed by a regional and a state championship. Our first meet is next Thursday, April 12th and we really need some help.

There is NO experience necessary to join the Unified Track Team. We practice Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:45-4:00. Students are expected to attend two practices per week, and all meets.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy the many benefits that come from being on a team, while serving as a role model to our unified sports teammates. Upon completion of the season, student athletes that compete in the meets will earn a varsity letter and a meaningful community service experience.

To join the LMHS Unified Sports Team, students must complete the LHS athletic forms, have an updated physical, and pay a reduced user fee of $100 or complete the waiver form if they have free/reduced lunch. The required forms (Lunenburg High School Athletic Form 2018- Spring- 2018.pdf) can be found on the high school athletics page or at this link:

Any interested student can come to practice on Monday or Wednesday, April 9th and/or 11th to see if it is a good fit for them. All questions can be directed to Karma Tousignant at ktousignant@lunenburgonline.com or (978) 582-4115 x4107.
