Two Week Look Ahead

Two Week Look Ahead - September 18, 2018

Good afternoon. The school year is in full swing and it is almost officially fall. It’s hard to say goodbye to summer, but the fall season brings lots of activity to LHS. Hopefully, you will find the time to come support our students in their extra-curricular activities.

Thank you to all who attended the Open House we had last week. It was great to see so many people here and invested in their student’s education.

The Homecoming/Float season is upon us. The theme for Homecoming this year is Decades. The Classes have chosen:

  • Seniors – 50’s
  • Juniors – 80’s
  • Sophomores – 60’s
  • Freshmen – ??? (Have not picked yet)

Homecoming is on Saturday, October 20. The parade will start from Turkey Hill Elementary School at noon. The football game will kick off at 2:00 pm against Murdock High School. On Sunday, October 21 the Lunenburg PTO will be putting on the Miles for Myles Run/Walk/Ride. The bike ride starts at 11:00 am, followed by the 1 mile fun run at noon, and the 5K at 12:30 pm. It should be a great weekend.

At the Open House we had Eileen Kneeland from the District Attorney’s Office of Worcester County in the LHS Collaborative Space. A substance abuse awareness program called “Hidden in Plain Sight” which was an exhibit for PARENTS/ADULTS ONLY. This was to show that drug paraphernalia can be modeled after or stored in everyday household items. I heard very good things about the program from parents at open house and the program was well attended all night.

The Athletic Advisory Council will hold their meeting on Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00 pm at LMHS. This meeting is open to the public.

The Senior Parent College Planning Seminar was held at Lunenburg Middle High School the night of open house, in the LMS Project room. The seminar was presented by Mrs. Cavaioli and Mr. Dionne.
