Return to Two Week Look Ahead Archive
We are now firmly into fourth term and the countdown is on for prom, graduation, and other year-end activities. However, in school, our students are focused on Advanced Placement exams, the SAT, MCAS, and other projects and assessments being given in classrooms.
LHS is a very busy place this time of year, from 8:00 am – 9:00 pm. More than half of our students are participating in extra-curricular activities. These activities include: athletics, a play production, various clubs, and the Music and Art Expo. Hopefully, you can find the time to attend some of the events going on at LHS.
Seniors are counting down the days of classes that remain for them. There are only a few weeks left for the Class of 2019, before they take final exams. The week of Memorial Day (May 28-May 31) is when all of the Senior activities take place. On Wednesday, May 29, the Senior Motorcade will leave from Conrad’s and drive to the Primary School, Turkey Hill Elementary School, and around the bus loop at LMHS before parking in the student parking lot. Seniors will take one lap around LMHS while being cheered on by their teachers and classmates. After their lap, students will have their Senior Breakfast in the cafeteria, followed by the Senior Video. It should be a fun day!

Fundraiser Night - MOE’s SOUTHWEST GRILL Friday, May 3rd: 4 to 8 pm 865 Merriam Ave, Leominster, MA
Help support Lunenburg High School’s World Hunger Task Force in fighting hunger and poverty in our local community and around the world!
I would like to invite all 8th grade parents and students to a Lunenburg High School orientation night. This will take place next Wednesday(5/1/19) evening in the LMHS auditorium from 6pm-6:45pm. We will discuss LHS expectations, scheduling (the “Just right” schedule), the LHS handbook, extra curricula activities, sports, and all the other opportunities that LHS has to offer. I look forward to seeing you next Wednesday night. Have a great evening.
My name is Scott Zibel and I am the current President of the synagogue Congregation Agudat Achim in Leominster. I am writing to inform you that every year my synagogue has a Yom HaShoah observance (Holocaust Remembrance Day) and to invite surrounding young adults and their families to this event scheduled on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at 6:00 at 268 Washington Street, Leominster, MA. The topic of the Holocaust can be difficult for many people (old and young alike) and my synagogue has always tried not to have graphic imagery or language at this observance.
In past years, we have had a variety of speakers, such as actual survivors, children of survivors, researchers of the Holocaust, etc. This year, our guest speaker will be Dr. Benjamin Lieberman, a professor of Economics, History, and Political Science from FSU. It is my hope that you will share with your school community this event so as to help ensure the atrocities of the Holocaust do not happen again in our lifetime and the lifetime of our children. The committee thought it would it is very prudent to invite surrounding young adults and their families to this event since a study in 2018 has shown that 22% of young Americans have never heard of the Holocaust (https://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-5228287,00.html). As a child I was taught “to never forget” yet many people can’t forget what they don’t know.
