*Class registration is NOT a first come first serve basis. You can register for classes on the first day or the last day it does not matter and the date does not determine whether you will have your course request granted.

AFTERMNOON PICK-UP REMINDER:

Please do NOT start queuing up for pick up before 2:20pm and please do NOT enter by the Massachusetts Avenue sign. Kindly enter Memorial Drive off Massachusetts Avenue and bear right after Kids Kingdom heading towards the Town Library. After the library, take a left at the stop sign and continue up the driveway towards LMHS. There will be signage to guide you along the way. PLEASE do NOT drive directly in front of TCP as this could create a hazard for our extended day students.

Once you have picked up your student, the only way to exit the school grounds will be via Oak Ave. For the safety of students, parents and staff, it is imperative that we follow these instructions exactly as stated without exception.

This new traffic pattern has been reviewed and approved by both Lunenburg Administration, the DPW and the Lunenburg Police Department.

We will monitor the effectiveness of the new pick up procedure on the traffic on Massachusetts Avenue and determine if we need to modify or make additional changes.

We appreciate your attention in this matter as we are working towards ensuring the safety of everyone in our community.

Senior Step Program:

Attention all Juniors who are interested in doing a STEP in their Senior year. Please email Mrs. Pukaite directly and she will connect you with her STEP Google Classroom so you can access the STEP Application. Applications will be due no later than June 1st. LHS Health Office:

Travel Requirement

As of March 22nd the travel order was replaced with a travel advisory. However, on April 7th, the Lunenburg School Committee voted in favor of continuing to require all visitors entering Massachusetts, including returning residents, to quarantine for 10 days upon their arrival or until a negative test is obtained. Travelers in the following categories are exempt from this quarantine advisory:

  • Travelers who have received a negative COVID-19 result on a test administered not more than 72 hours prior to their arrival in Massachusetts or upon your return to Massachusetts.

  • Anyone who is returning to Massachusetts after being out of the State for fewer than 24 hours or entering the state for fewer than 24 hours.

  • Travelers who are fully vaccinated (i.e. who have received two doses of either the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines OR who have received a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, 14 days or more ago) and who do not have symptoms.

If your student has traveled, please consult your school nurse for guidance. The school nurse must receive a copy of the test results prior to your child’s return to school.

Air travel requires spending time in security lines and airport terminals, which can bring travelers in close contact with other people and frequently touched surfaces. Social distancing is difficult in busy airports and on crowded flights, and sitting within 6 feet of others, sometimes for hours, may increase the risk of getting COVID-19. How you get to and from the airport, such as with public transportation and ridesharing, can also increase the chance of being exposed to the virus.

Testing before and after travel can reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. Testing does not eliminate all risk, but when paired with a period of staying at home and everyday precautions like wearing masks and social distancing, it can make travel safer by reducing spread on planes, in airports, and at destinations.

Livestreaming Update:

Starting on April 5th with the full return learning model the DESE changed guidelines that stated: Remote learning time will no longer count towards official DESE learning hours with only two exceptions 1) Students who have chosen to be fully remote. 2) Students who are quarantined for COVID-19 related situations. Because of these new guidelines teachers cannot allow students to livestream into classes. Only administration and the school nurse can allow students to livestream. Livestreaming can only be approved for the two reasons stated above. To allow for turnaround time it could take up to 24 hours for a student to be able to access livestreaming after the reported COVID-19 situation.

Weight Room:

The weight room will be open for all high school students Tuesday thru Friday 2:30 to 3:30. Any questions please see Mr. Boone.

MCAS Update:

At the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education’s April 20 meeting, Commissioner Riley will recommend that the Board modify the state graduation requirements for students in grade 11 (class of 2022) so that they would not need to pass the MCAS ELA and Mathematics tests in order to earn their competency determination. If this passes, grade 11 students and their parents/guardians will need to determine whether they will participate in the MCAS ELA and Mathematics tests for scholarship purposes (John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and Stanley Z. Koplik Certificate of Mastery with Distinction Award). Grade 11 students who choose to participate may do so either in spring 2021 or in fall 2021 (the Adams Scholarship is based on first-time MCAS test scores). Students who test this spring will have results this fall, in time to learn whether they qualify for scholarships before applying to colleges. A survey from LHS will be sent home shortly for students and their parents/guardians to inform the school of their intentions to participate in testing.
