I hope everybody is enjoying their February vacation. The Competitive Class Plays were last week. While the Junior class won the competition, all three of the grades had outstanding performances. Being a judge is not easy! If you were not able to attend this year, make a point of coming out to see our talented students hit the big stage next year. Additionally, there will be a grade 6-12 musical Annie Jr. please come out an see the production. More details on that to come.

There are a few things I wanted to bring your attention to, over the next couple of weeks.

Guidance:

Join us, Wednesday, March 13th from 6:00-8:00 pm for "Curious About College?" - A panel of College Admission Counselors will share what colleges are looking for in students and as well as advice on the college application and admission process. STUCO/Horticulture:

The first official GALAPAGOS information meeting will be taking place March 19th at 6:30 pm in room A142 of LHS. It is requested that a parent/guardian joins their student for this meeting. Please RSVP to Dawn Gearin at dgearin@lunenburgonline.com


The student council is sending representatives to the Massachusetts Association of Student Councils Annual State Conference March 6-8. Students are looking forward to improving their leadership skills and sharing ideas with other councils from all around the state.


The Horticulture class is sending over 25 projects to be entered in the Boston Flower Show. The flower show is taking place from March 13 through the 17th. Students will be going on a field trip to see their projects and tour the flower show on March 13.

PowerSchool:

If your student does not receive email messages from the district or high school, please have the student email Mrs. Vallee at pvallee@lunenburgonline.com. A list of impacted students has been created and the district office is currently working on this issue.

Health Class:

"Mrs. Pukaite's Thresholds class has begun their self defense portion of their class with Sgt Szrate and Officer Ledger. The officers have been recently trained in the RAD program and will continue to teach students the importance of defending themselves in unsafe situations."

Yearbook:

There are only 18 Yearbooks left before they are sold out. Be sure to secure your copy if you would like one in June. Visit, www.yearbookforever.com and follow the prompts to order a High School Yearbook.

Music:

On March 14th, we have a band visiting from New Jersey, to do a band exchange rehearsal and informance, which is at 4:30pm.

The HS Music Dept, will be taking its annual trip to the Primary School for Music Day!

Battle of the Bands:

On March 16th there will be a fundraiser at the Bull Run for the Lunenburg Skatepark. It’s a Battle of the Bands created by four students for their community service class. The purpose of the event is for the students to gain experience on fundraising and marketing, and raising money for the park. There will be raffles, a silent auction, and a appetizer buffet during the event. Please come support the students and enjoy a night out with some entertainment! NHS Blood Drive:

The NHS will have the annual Blood Drive Thursday, March 7, from 8-1.

Boys & Girls Club:

The Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster will be hosting the 6th Annual Central Ma Science Festival on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 from 10AM to 3PM. The event is free for all ages.

Scheduling:

We have started the course registration process for next year. Teachers will be recommending students for course selection for next year using the online Powerschool tool versus the old fashion paper model. Near the end of March is when students will be going through the recommendation process.

Sports:

** March 8th all spring sports registrations need to be completed.
