Two Week Look Ahead

Two Week Look Ahead - December 20, 2019

I want to wish everyone a happy, restful, and safe holiday break. With temperatures dropping please stay warm. It’s hard to believe that the winter break is upon us. Here are some events that just happened and some that will be happening.

MUSIC DEPARTMENT

The Music department performed two concerts last week. On Tuesday, December 10, students in grades 6-12 put on Vocal Concert at 7:00 pm in the auditorium. It was a tremendous performance. They sang beautifully. On Thursday, December 12, the Instrumental Concert performed in grades 6-12. That concert was also at 7:00 pm. The bands were spectacular and the music they played was top notch. All music students deserve high praise because the performances were exceptional and a joy to hear and watch.

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL HEALTH

We have recognized that there is increased pressure and stress on our students in recent years. This stress can manifest itself in many different ways. Most times, the stress that we all deal with is normal and manageable. However, there are also many individuals who are dealing with more than just typical stress and pressure. Often times, those students are dealing with anxiety, depression, or another form of mental illness. We want to help to bring awareness to mental health concerns, let students know that there is help available if they need it, and work to debunk the stigma often associated with mental illness. If a student or any Lunenburg resident is struggling we have a resource in Lunenburg called Interface Referral Service for mental health referrals. The helpline number is 1-888-244-6843.

**I HAVE ASKED ALL STAFF FOR THIS HOLIDAY BREAK TO BE A HOMEWORK FREE VACATION.

One exception is for AP classes and long term assignments.

Students can work on those long term assignments over break. Students in our Music program are also encourage to practice with their instruments.

2020 & 2021 CLASSES

When we return from break there will be weekly Prom committee meetings for seniors and juniors - Thursdays from 2:30-3:00 in D136.

GIFT CARD DRIVE

This was such an awesome success. I want to thank the secretaries involved that made this drive happen. We raised $5,000.00 for families in Lunenburg.

This was a lot of work and so many groups contributed. A special thank you to the generosity of the Lunenburg staff. Thank you all for making the holidays a little better for our Lunenburg Community.

PTO

Please go to this website below, to join the PTO. It is $16.00 a year to join. To be eligible for the PTO LHS scholarship you have to be a PTO member for all four high school years. They are a great organization for our students and they need our support. https://luneburgpto.ptboard.com/[3]
