Two Week Look Ahead - October 23, 2020

Fall is here and we are in full swing with our hybrid and remote learning models. We had our two LHS school photo days and they both went very well. We had school photos taken of both hybrid and full remote students.

Library:

Mrs. Vallee is available by email at pvallee@lunenburgonline.com and pvallee@lunenburgschools.net for any student needing help finding a book, researching a topic, using the databases, creating citations, or many other reasons.

The library offers many digital resources such as databases, ebooks, audiobooks and citation creation tools which are located on the library website: https://sites.google.com/lunenburgschools.net/lmhs-library-media-center. The databases are grouped by subject areas to make navigating the many resources easier. The database passwords are accessible from any database page on the library website. There is a blue banner located at the top of each page. As long as a student is logged into their school Google account, clicking that link will open the list of usernames and passwords for all of the databases offered through the library.

Community Event:

AJ Robbins Thanksgiving for All

Helping others through difficult times has never been more important than now. There are thousands of families in our own and neighboring communities who are struggling to put food on their family table. Many places that typically fill this need have cancelled for this year. The hole needs to be filled. AJ was great at filling the hole on Thanksgiving Day High School football games and now he is doing it where it really makes a difference.

Together we can try to bring peace and happiness to these families on Thanksgiving Day by providing the necessities for a meal to celebrate.

The AJ Robbins Memorial Foundation will make an initial gift of $2000 to support this effort.

As a guide, a family of four basket will cost approximately $50. We would like to try to make at least 250 baskets thus requiring around $10,000. We have shoppers, basket assemblers and delivery people. Donations in ANY amount – the cost of a can of corn, the cost of a bag of potatoes, the cost of a turkey, the sponsoring of a single family of 4 or more are all welcomed and sincerely appreciated.

The more the merrier and it is a kid friendly environment that will provide them a strong example of doing good for others.

ATHLETICS:

•Senior nights for fall sports have been fantastic. I personally would like to thank all our seniors for the memories on all our fall sport teams.

•The golf team is wrapping up the season this week and is looking forward to sending Brayden Gendron, Gavin Cloutier, Tyler Hollifield, Teagan Picazio and Sam Bartow to the league individual tournament on Oct 28th at the Northern Spy Golf Course. Good luck guys!

•Thank you from the Lunenburg XC/Track & Field Booster Club

•Thank you to the students, staff and community for your support of the virtual Miles for Myles race held last week. Together with the Miles for Myles race committee, the Lunenburg XC/Track & Field teams and booster club, we were able to provide a donation of $1,000 to the Lunenburg Turkey Hill Family Lions Club as well as over 500 canned good items. We look forward to having an in-person race in the fall of 2021.
