Meet Ms. Lange

Though I was born and raised in New York, I’ve lived in Lee's Summit for 25 years now and really appreciate the way Midwesterners value “family” and relationships. Lee's Summit was the perfect place to raise my own son.

I’ve had an opportunity to travel extensively as the former wife of an Air Force member. I’ve lived and taught in Myrtle Beach and Charleston, SC and California. I even lived in Northern Italy for four years and had an opportunity to teach for the Department of Defense while there.

As an avid fan of the American game of baseball, I can often be found under the lights of one diamond or another cheering on my favorite player, my son Alex. Alex is now 26 years old and off on his own playing professional baseball for the Detroit Tigers. It's easy to see why baseball is a favorite pastime of mine and I should tell you that that kid of mine is the light of my life.

This is my 35th year in the teaching profession. I hold both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees, and an additional 50+ graduate hours. I'm certified in elementary education as well as several areas of special education through the highschool level and have countless hours in the area of administration. Previous teaching experience includes work at the middle school level, 1st grade, and 3rd grade. I have also established and worked in programs for children with autism, children with learning disabilities, as well as various other programs which encompass children having a variety of other handicapping conditions and the Head Start Program.

Interests outside of the classroom are wide. I love the sun and the water and look forward to any opportunity to vacation at a hot weather destination. I enjoy the theater; travel; backyard barbecues with friends; a baseball game at any level, the chocolate basket at McCormicks and Schmicks; reading; and spending time with my family.

I love when I run into a former student and they tell me about how much they enjoyed something we did the year we were together. I savor the feeling of pride that I experience when I can see success in another human being’s eyes. Teaching is not only a passion for me, it is my calling.
