Set up a new project in Noodletools to keep track of all sources for this assignment
Browse the databases to find information about oppressed groups
Explore articles and information relating to a variety of oppressed groups before deciding the specific group you would like to focus on for this project
Oppressed Groups - this list provides some examples of oppressed groups to get you started; please note this is NOT a complete list as there are many, many more groups who have been oppressed
Black/African American community
Asian Americans
Native Americans
Any other racial or ethnic group who have been oppressed
People suffering from mental illness
People with Disabilities
Women
LGBTQ+
Muslims (and other religious groups)
Step 2 - Feb 5, 2021:
Select the oppressed group you would like to focus on for this research assignment
Research specific ways that group has been (or is being) oppressed
laws
restrictions
propaganda (pictures, ads, how they are portrayed in the media/TV/movies, etc)
You will need specific examples of the oppression
Step 3 for Research - Feb 26 & Mar 1, 2021:
Research how your oppressed group met oppression
Research how they fought or stood up to oppression - use the databases to find this information
