About

I teach 6th Grade Math at LQPV Middle School.

In addition to teaching Math, I am also the Grades 5-12 Q-Comp Lead Teacher.

This is my 25th year of teaching, all of which have been in the Lac Qui Parle Valley School District. During my tenure in the district, I have taught 4th grade (Math, Language, and Social Studies), 5th grade (Math and Social Studies) and 6th grade (Math and MN History).

I am originally from Benson, Minnesota. I graduated from Benson High School in 1994. From there I went on to graduate from St. John’s University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and a concentration in the social sciences. I furthered my education once again in 2005 when I received my Master of Science in Education, with an emphasis in educational leadership, from Southwest Minnesota State University. I continue to take classes that focus on Educational Leadership and have earned credits from Hamline University, St. Thomas University, St. Mary's University, Augustana and North Dakota State University.

Outside of teaching I have many different hobbies. In the summer months I enjoy fishing for walleyes. I fish 7 or 8 tournaments a year as well as participate in Lac Qui Parle Lake Walleye Fishing league. My wife Karen, and I spend most of our summer weekends at our camper in Northeast South Dakota fishing the Glacial Lakes Area. I am the owner of MinnKota Tackle, in Madison,MN, specializing in custom made walleye spinner rigs and we offer many other products. I am an avid outdoorsman. I am a board member of the Lac Qui Parle Lake Association. I am currently co-chair of the Lac qui Parle Ducks Unlimited Chapter. I spend as much time as I can in the field hunting pheasants, and waterfowl with my black lab "Toby". These adventures take me throughout Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska and Montana.

My goal is to create the best possible learning environment for all the students, to ensure that they may be successful at whatever subject I am teaching. I am devoted to continuing my education to stay up-to-date with the most current teaching practices. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the Middle School 752-4882 or via the email address listed on my contact page.
