The annual Writes of Spring Writing Contest involves K-12 students residing in Lafayette Parish or the surrounding parishes of Acadia, Iberia, St. Landry, St. Martin, and Vermilion. These students submit original pieces of short fiction, personal narrative, or poetry in English, French, or Spanish. Entry Form Information

🌿Entries are now being accepted for the 5th Annual CWPPRA Wetland Writing Contest! Louisiana students in grades K-12 are challenged to compose a personal tribute to coastal wetlands in the form of a short story, personal narrative, or poem. Prizes will be awarded in all three genres for each grade bracket. Only entries submitted through the link below will be accepted. Submissions are due on April 13, 2026. Rules and regulations can be found on the submission form

The National Writing Project of Acadiana (NWP-A) is hosting an event for middle school students (6th-8th grade) to write PURFECT Kitty Litter-ature and PAW-SOME Doggy Details!
For this event, students are invited to meet Acadiana Animal Aid (AAA) animals, participate in a descriptive writing workshop, and write pet bios and shelter stories for adoptable cats and dogs to be shared on AAA's website, displayed on kennels, or even posted to AAA's social media. Additional details below.
