Law

While titled "Law" this is NOT everything you need to know to be a lawyer. Instead, it is an examination of our legal system and focusses primarily on Criminal Law and the justice system. We will examine :

• Civil Law (mostly as it connects to criminal law)

• The Crime Itself

• Processes of Investigation and Prosecution and the roles of detectives/investigators, prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, and juries

• Options for Punishment (beyond prison)

• The Prison System

• The Death Penalty

We will do so, not from a textbook, but in an experiential manner through the use of actual cases, guest speakers, and (potentially) out of class experiences such as ride alongs with Arapahoe County Sheriffs, observations of trial proceedings, and possibly a mock trial.
