Meet Mr. Barnitz

Hello LPCS Students, Parents, and Community Members! My name is Andrew Barnitz. I am the music teacher here at Littleton Prep. I am so excited to be joining the LPCS community again this year!

Here is a little biography on me. I grew up an "Air Force Brat", my Dad was in the military. I was born in Brunswick, Maine where I lived for only 4 months before we were stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. I lived there for about four years before being stationed at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico. After living in Clovis for 10 years, my father was then stationed at Cheyenne Mountain, NORAD, in Colorado Springs. My parents still live in the Springs but my Dad has long since retired from the military. I have two older siblings. My sister is the oldest and is raising a wonderful family of her own. I am very proud of my niece and nephew and love them dearly. My niece is 23 and is a teacher in the Fountain/Ft. Carson School District in Colorado Springs. My nephew is 30 and lives in Breckenridge. He just got married this past summer to a wonderful lady named Jess. My brother lives in Indianapolis, Indiana where he lives with his wonderful wife, Vivian. They miss Colorado terribly but in this day of many job losses, they plan on staying put.

I am a high school graduate of Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs. I then attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley where I received my bachelors degree in music education. I received my masters degree in education emphasizing in administration from the University of Phoenix at the Lonetree Branch.

I started my teaching career in Kiowa, Colorado where I taught vocal and general music to kindergarteners through twelfth graders for two years. I then moved to the Lewis Palmer School District in Monument, Colorado where I taught pre-school through fifth graders. From Lewis Palmer, I went to the Douglas County School system where I taught kindergarten through sixth graders for three years before coming to LPCS.

If you need to contact me, please email me at abarnitz@lps.k12.co.us.

I am very excited to be here and wish you all a great school year!

Sincerely,

Mr. Andrew Barnitz
