Volunteer Opportunities

Our vision is a school district where teachers, staff, and administrators work in partnership with students, families, and other community members to create a world class education system. Our volunteers work with teachers and children to help make this vision a reality.

All of our schools, elementary, middle, and high, have volunteer opportunities available. There are opportunities for those wishing to work directly with children, including reading with individuals and small groups, assisting students with math, and supervising children on the playground or during an extracurricular activity. Some of our volunteers work in a support capacity by helping to grade papers, make copies, or maintain and beautify school grounds. The variety of opportunities is extensive, and we are certain you will have an enjoyable and rewarding experience as a volunteer in our district.

I would love to answer any questions you might have about volunteering in our schools or to find a volunteer experience that fits your interests, skills, and time schedule. Please contact me via email at thoretta.short@lposd.org or by phone at 263-2184 extension 1008.

Being a part of a child’s success story is not a privilege held just by his or her parents and teachers. It is a door that is open to any volunteer willing to step through it.
