Welcome to first grade at Hahira Elementary School! My name is Katie Smith, and I am excited to be joining the first-grade team at Hahira Elementary! After more than 20 years with Lowndes County Schools, teaching both first and third grade and serving as an Instructional Coach for the past five years, I am thrilled to be returning to the classroom—right where my heart belongs!
One of the greatest joys of teaching is getting to know each child and their family. I love building meaningful relationships, celebrating each student’s unique gifts, and creating a classroom where children feel valued, encouraged, and excited to come to school each day.
My husband, Scott, and I have two wonderful children who have grown up in Lowndes County Schools. Our son, Maddox, is a recent graduate and will be attending Georgia Southern this fall, and our daughter, Addison, is a student at LHS. Our family has proudly called Lowndes County home for many years, and we are grateful to be part of such a special community.
I am truly honored to become part of the Hahira community! I can’t wait to meet my students, get to know their families, and make lots of wonderful first-grade memories together. Here’s to an AMAZING year ahead!
