Meet Ms. Roberts

From the Teacher's Desk...

Some research suggests that the candle symbolizes light in the darkness of life especially individual life; it serves as an illumination; it is the symbol of holy illumination of the spirit of truth. It is a candle’s flame that helps to soothe our soul – reducing stress and increasing self-awareness. In today’s ever changing society, it is important that educators serve as a light in a dark place. I would want to continue to be that light, just as my educators have been for me.

I currently work as a support teacher, also known as an Exceptional Students’ teacher, at Pine Grove Elementary. I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher. As I went through my academic career I looked back on the values the ideas that had been instilled in me as a kid by my elementary school teacher, and once I realized the impact that one person had had on me, everything clicked. It wasn’t until I was high school that I realized that I wanted to be an exceptional student’s teacher. While learning new things can be challenging, I intend to teach students a variety of strategies to work through their own struggles and empower themselves to learn and grow. From teaching kindergarten, first, second, fourth and fifth grade, I have obtained a variety of skills and experiences to help meet the needs of every learner.

Educational Background

I am a graduate of Valdosta State University where I received a Bachelor’s and Master's Degree in Special Education Interrelated Early Childhood Education. While I was extremely involved at VSU, one of my greatest passions and achievements was becoming an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I continued my education at Nova Southeastern University evidently obtaining an Ed. S degree Curriculum, Instruction, Management, and Administration.

Getting to Know Me...

I grew up in Jesup, Georgia with two siblings. I am the baby of the three. Some people call that spoiled, I just called it blessed. I received my formal schooling within the Wayne County School public school system, evidently graduating from Wayne County High school. I will always be a Yellow Jacket at heart.

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy being a mother to two wonderful children, Tai and Ari.

Positive connections between parents and teachers have been shown to improve children’s academic achievement, social competencies and emotional well-being. In fact, research suggests that the existence of partnerships between parents and teachers improves children’s work habits, attitudes about school, and grades.
