PHILOSOPHY & CURRICULUM

We believe a physical education program is an all encompassing vehicle for teaching students how to cooperate and compete effectively in a physical activity setting. We not only prepare students to engage in physical activities, but also prepare children to demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior.

The discipline of physical education addresses cognitive, social and physical development. Many of our activities have a competitive nature, and all reinforce working cooperatively. Our activities include the qualities of respect and recognition of teamwork. The Center School curriculum is aligned with the Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Curriculum Frameworks, National Standards For Physical Education and the Longmeadow District Curriculum. We strive to inspire students to develop responsible healthy attitudes and behaviors.
