Welcome to 6th Grade!
I'm so happy you're here!
I'm so happy you're here!
Welcome to 6th grade! What a special year this is for your child. As a class, we will be working on gaining the skills necessary to succeed in their academic journey ahead. I look forward to providing rigor in all areas of study, in order to promote growth. Equally as important, I will be encouraging independent thinking, self starting skills and strong study skills, all which will be necessary as your child moves ahead to middle school. Together we will be learning Language Arts and Math, and we will have the opportunity to rotate for Science and a portion of Social Studies and Art with Mrs. Reeves and Mrs. Whitfield. There will many amazing opportunities ahead for your child this year. I’m looking forward to exploring, creating and working our way through the school year. Thank you for sharing your child with me!
Warmly,
Mrs. Sullivan

Physical Education
Our PE days are Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9:40- 10:30. Please make sure to wear athletic shoes, appropriate clothes and pack a water bottle on these days.
Absences
I understand that students will be absent from time to time, but please try to make sure that your student is in class each day. If they must miss class, they will need to obtain the notes from other students and get any additional work from the “while you were out” folder. Students will be responsible for all missed work and best practice is always in class instruction.
Homework
There will be homework nightly. Vocabulary, nightly reading and reading logs will be assigned M-Th. Math as review only, and science/ancient civilizations sparingly. I am checking for 100% effort. Homework shouldn’t last over an hour, if it goes over this time, STOP and write me a note.
Planner
Planners will be filled out daily and must be signed on Thursday evenings by parents. I will be checking the planner on Friday mornings for a signature and any communication from parents. This will be part of your child’s study skills grade.
