Programs & Events
LMTA's offers a wide range of events and programs for teachers and their students. If you have any questions regarding any of the programs or events, please contact the LMTA program or event chair.
(LMTA membership is required for teachers and their students to participate)
MONTHLY MEETINGS :
The membership meets each month from September through May, except December. An educational component is planned for each meeting.
SPECIAL TEACHER EDUCATION WORKSHOPS
LMTA regularly sponsors teacher education workshops offering continuing educational credits for national certification.
STUDENT AND SERVICE RECITALS :
Students are given a variety of opportunities to perform throughout the year. Service recitals are held frequently in hospitals, nursing homes and other community organizations. LMTA student recitals are sponsored twice a year in a location where an LMTA owned grand piano is housed. Periodically, teachers and students join together and play in the mall or other high traffic area.
LMTA members and/or their music students prepare special educational programs to perform in local area schools.
LMTA hosts the Lincoln District Festival each year in May. Students play memorized pieces for a rating and also take a theory test. Medals are awarded for a Superior (I) performance and a special theory certificate for an excellent grade. All students receive a certificate of attendance. Students with Excellent (II) or above ratings and a passing theory score may advance to the State Festival.
THEORY FUN FAIR :
Every few years, LMTA presents a student program, such as the "Theory Fun Fair" where students enjoy playing musical games and winning prizes.
Students' compositions are judged. Winners receive prizes/certificates and perform at a special recital. To learn more about the event, click here
Every few years over 400 students and their teachers come together to present a "Monster Concert".
CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL:
Students form chamber groups and prepare a piece(s) to play for constructive remarks by a coach. Selected groups perform on a recital and/or in a special event.
Financially needy or at risk students who are identified by a person in authority, such as their school music teacher, principal, guidance counselor or LMTA music teacher have the opportunity to take music lessons from LMTA teachers at reduced rates. A piano or instrument will be provided if needed. These students would not otherwise have the opportunity to take music lessons.
