Dr. Brian Moore key-note speaker at the Lincoln Music Teachers Association's Fall Kickoff Meeting

Dr. Brian Moore, UNL Music Education and Technology Professor was the key-note speaker at the Lincoln Music Teachers Association's Fall Kickoff Meeting and Pot Luck Luncheon held at Fellowship Community Church on September 12, 2018 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Moore's presentation was entitled "Music Literacy and Composition at Goodrich Middle School and your private studio". He spoke about an educational pilot project at Goodrich and Moore Middle Schools involving music composition with technology using electronic keyboards, iPads, and the power of peer involvement. This academic year LMTA Workshops will deal with creative composition. There will be a composition contest among teachers and students which will culminate in a Winners Recital in 2019. All entered compositions will be published in a special volume.

Dr. Brian Moore is Professor of Music Education and Music Technology at the Glenn Korff School of Music where he teaches music composition methods, advanced string methods and several courses in the music technology area including app development. He also serves as the advisor for the Music Technology Minor currently involving more than 100 students from across the campus.

Prior to coming to Nebraska in 1986, Brian taught instrumental and general music in Verona, Wisconsin where he was the director of orchestras for grades 6-12.

He holds a B.A. in music composition and a B.M. in music education degree from the University of New Hampshire. His graduate work includes a masters in music education and conducting and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

His special areas of interest include creativity, composition, and instructional technology, and he continues to be active in the area of instructional software development with a focus on music education, composition, and mobile devices. In 2013, Brian was recognized nationally as an Apple Distinguished Educator.
