Prof. Hassan M. Khachfe holds an interdisciplinary appointment as  a faculty member in the School of Education, School of Engineering, and School of Sciences at the Lebanese International University. Prof. Khachfe is currently the Academic Director and the Chair of the Nabatieh Campus Council, the University's Head of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), and the Chair of the Institutional E-Learning Committee.

Prof. Khachfe began his college studies (1989-1993) in the Physics Department at the American University of Beirut (AUB, Lebanon), then moved to Wichita State University (WSU, KS) where he earned a MSc. in Polymer Physics (WSU, 1996), later moved to Boston to earn a Ph.D. in Biophysics and Molecular Medicine (Boston University School of Medicine, 2002). Prof. Khachfe runs multidisciplinary research projects and supervises two interdisciplinary research groups. The Lebanese Institute for Biomedical Research and Application (LIBRA) is a research group that deals mainly with the structural determination and characterization of macromolecular assemblies, the analysis of complex signals, and the design of MEMS and NEMS for biomedical applications. Current projects focus on the enhancement of human life through understanding the molecular details of the disease-causing plasma apolipoproteins, particularly Apo B100 of the low-density lipoprotein (LDL), on finding novel approaches for the decontamination and lengthy storage of foods, on investigating the effect of body fat on the recording of ECG signals, and on the analysis of ERP of complex EEG signals. Prof. Khachfe also heads the Business, Educational, and Medical Optimization REsearch (BE-MORE) group, which explores the design and implementation of automated quality management, control, assurance, and business systems for healthcare and educational institutions. He is a national and regional authority on educational management, science education, and instructor formation.

Prof. Khachfe served as the Director of the Computational Sciences and Bioinformatics Unit at the American University of Beirut, and the head of LIU's task force for QC&A. He was LIU's Director of the Center for Quality Assurance, Institutional Assessment and Scientific Research (QAIASR, that later was split into the Office of Quality Assurance, Institutional Effectiveness, and Accreditation and the Center for Excellence in Research and Development), and is currently the Academic Director and the Chair of the Nabatieh Campus Council. Prof. Khachfe has over 15 years of experience in higher education management, and more than 13 years of experience in Public health and healthcare Quality Assurance. Besides being an AArU-accredited auditor of higher education programs, Prof. Khachfe is a co-founder and current Vice President of the Lebanese Society for BioMedical Engineering, author of many research articles, and a reviewer and editorial board member in several scientific journals, IARIA Fellow (for distinguished contribution to scientific research) as of 2015, a member of the National Task Force that worked to draft the law to create a National Technology Transfer Office (since 2015), and a candidate nominated for the 2016 WAAAUB Alumnus of the Year.
