Calling all 9th & 10th graders

High School only happens once!!

Creation of the GPA! (and accumulating credits/checking of graduation requirements)

Freshmen - This is where we start keeping score! Every single grade whether it's for an assignment, project, or test will make a difference for your Grade Point Average (GPA). Your class rank will be officially calculated for the first time at the end of your first semester. You will also be accumulating credits required for graduation. Most classes are worth 5 credits a semester when you pass.

Attendance is essential to school success, but too often students, parents and schools do not realize how quickly absences — excused and unexcused — can add up to academic trouble. Chronic absence — missing 10 percent of the school year, or just 2-3 days every month—can translate into third-graders unable to master reading, sixth-graders failing courses and ninth-graders dropping out of high school. Low-income students, who most depend on school for opportunities to learn, are especially harmed when they miss too much instruction. www.attendanceworks.org

As your school counselor. . .

A big part of my job in the high school is helping you navigate your way to give you the best possible game plan for after high school. However, I am also here for any academic struggles and social/emotional struggles. Please keep in my mind that I honor confidentiality in that anything you tell me stays private unless it is ok with you that I discuss the matter with someone else or if someone is hurting you, you want to hurt someone, or if you want to hurt yourself. My job is to help keep everyone safe and help them be the best they can be.
