Coaches

Coach Abbott is the head track coach for 7th and 8th grade girls. She has been coaching track for 24 years, 19 of those at Excelsior. Coach Abbott has been teaching 7th grade P.E. for the past 14 years at Excelsior. Prior to that, she taught Health/P.E. in Illinois and Des Moines. 

Coach Frangella is in his 12th year coaching track at Excelsior. He has been teaching at Excelsior for the past 12 years. Coach Frangella is a freshman baseball coach at the high school. Coach Frangella will mainly focus  on starts, agility and conditioning. 

Coach Hajek is in his 13th year coaching track at Excelsior. He has been teaching at Excelsior for the past 13 years. Coach Hajek has coached freshman football for 2 years. Coach Hajek will make the lineup for the 7th grade boys team. His main focus will be coaching the throwing events. Coach Hajek Graduated from Linn-Mar in 2004.

Coach Harksen is in his 12th year coaching track at Excelsior and his 18th year coaching track all together. This is also Coach Harksen's 12th year teaching at Excelsior  and his 24th year teaching middle school. Coach Harksen will make the lineup for the 8th grade boys team. His focus is on the hurdles. 

Coach Kelley is in his 4th year at Excelsior. He will work with the  high jumpers. Besides track, Coach Kelley coaches middle school football here at Excelsior.  

Kyli Bootsmiller is a 6th-grade teacher at Boulder Peak Intermediate. Kyli's experience includes four years of collegiate cross country and track at Simpson College. Kyli graduated from Mount Vernon high school in 2018. She will make the 7th grade girls line ups.
