Library Policies and Procedures

Policies and procedures protect our collection and keep our library organized!

Library behavior expectations:

• Do not disturb other library patrons with noise or disruptive behavior.

• Do not re-shelve books. If you know what shelf you took the book from, lay the book on its side on top of other books on that shelf. Library staff will place it in the correct order.

• Food, candy, drinks, makeup, perfume, glue, markers, and other potentially damaging materials are not allowed in the library. 

• Sit in seats. Do not sit on tables or the backs/arms of chairs.

• Cell phones are not allowed in the library. This is a state-mandated law. If you get caught with a phone, it will be taken to the office. 

Circulation Policies:

• Each student is responsible for the books they check out.

• Two books can be checked out at one time. Exceptions are possible.

• The check-out period is 4 weeks. One renewal is allowed.

• Accounts with overdue books are suspended until the overdue books are returned.

• Lost or damaged books must be reported to the librarian right away.

• All lost/damaged books must be paid for by the last day of the school year. Accounts with unpaid lost/damaged books will be suspended.

Fines

There is a fine of 5 cents per school day for overdue materials. There is a one-week grace period during which no fine is charged. If the book is more than one week late, the overdue fine is charged from the first overdue day until the book is returned. All overdue fines must be paid before the senior trip or graduation. Students who owe over $5 will not be exempt from finals. 

Library Access

The library is typically open from 7:30-3:20 daily, with a few exceptions during lunches. 

Accelerated Reader 

Quizzes are only given in the ELA classrooms (unless prior approval is obtained from the teacher).  

Student Access 

Students have access to their accounts to check for overdue books and fines. Fines must be paid by cash or check (unless otherwise notified). No online payments are accepted at this time.
