Process for Blocking and Unblocking Websites
District 5 takes every precaution to make sure students have access to appropriate website content. District 5 has established a process that teachers and staff may use to request that instructionally appropriate websites be unblocked. Teachers and staff may also request that inappropriate websites be blocked.
User: The teacher or staff member should complete the Website Block/Unblock Request Form.
Teachers and staff: Please visit the D5 Virtual Teacher Resources website for more information.
Instructional Coach: Each school's Instructional Coach will receive the form and review the request. The Coach will review the website further, along with librarian, administrator and/or Technology Teacher Leader (TTL) if necessary.
UNBLOCK Requests:
If website should be unblocked, Coach will submit a request to the Office of Instruction.
If website should NOT be unblock, Coach will notify the user and principal in writing.
BLOCK Requests:
If website should be blocked, Coach will submit a request to the Office of Instruction.
If website should NOT be blocked, Coach will notify the user and principal in writing.
Office of Academics: The Office of Academics will review all requests to ensure that they align with the district's approved curriculum and if applicable, support the South Carolina State Adopted Standards. If approved by Office of Academics, the request will then be submitted to Technology Services.
Technology Services: Technology Services reviews the resource and blocks or unblocks as necessary.
User: Throughout the process the user is notified of their request's progress.
