Lauren Black – School Librarian

Mrs. Black is a double graduate of the University of South Carolina where she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Masters of Library and Information Science. She has experience in teaching, community outreach, and has worked in a public library for 6 years in circulation, reference, and youth services. Mrs. Black grew up in Lexington One schools and has a passion for educating the community that she has been a part of her whole life. She previously served as the chair for all of the South Carolina Book Awards Committees in 2020-2021, and is a writer for Columbia Mom. Mrs. Black is married with 2 children (Lee and Ava) and four rescue kitties. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, teaching workout classes, and watching movies. Mrs. Black is passionate about working with young people to help them to become lifelong learners and readers. She is looking forward to continuing her work with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the community to help students become as successful as possible.

Mrs. Long is a graduate of the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg. She holds a degree in Elementary Education and has spent 18 years in the field of education. Mrs. Long grew up moving all around the world because she was raised in a military family. She has been married for 27 years and has two children. Mrs. Long enjoys reading and cooking in her free time. Her love of learning keeps her excited and engaged in seeing students prosper and succeed in their educational endeavors.
