Cowley County, KS: Legacy Regional Community Foundation is seeking a talented, passionate individual to serve as grant coordinator for the South Central Child Care Circle (SCCCC). Key functions include ensuring that the grant’s action plan activities are advancing and/or met with the objective of engaging local stakeholders across the five-county region including Cowley, Chautauqua, Elk, Montgomery and Sumner counties . This opportunity is made possible through a grant from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment which launched the Child Care Zones program in 2025 to support communities working to address local child care issues. Interested individuals are encouraged to send their resume and a cover letter to Legacy. A position description may be found at www.legacyregionalfoundation.org. Contact the Foundation for more information by calling 620-221-7224 or email ceo@legacyregionalfoundation.
This grant builds on previous work by the organization to strengthen the community of child care providers and engaged families in creating sustainable solutions to solve the complex child care challenges such as workforce shortages, expanding access for families and creative business models. In July, the Cowley County Early Childhood Collaborative (CCECC) was established by Legacy to formalize the childcare initiative of Cowley ACTS. Founding board members include Wayne Hamilton, Bonnie Niles, Tabatha Rosproy, Tara Taylor and Emiliee Wilke.
In addition to the grant, CCECC is collaborating with area partners to sponsor a South Central Child Care Conference for child care providers on Saturday, December 13 at Cowley College. Cowley College has historically hosted this opportunity for early learning leaders to gather for professional development and networking. The conference programming includes 6 clock hours of professional development. Lunch is provided with registration.
